Two Weeks Out

We’re two weeks out from election day. Campaigns are now in their final sprint and with so many races out there, it can be hard to decide where to make your final donations of the cycle. To help you out I’ve put together a ranking of where I think your money can do the most good. I’ve listed each candidate’s name and the reasoning for where I positioned them on this list. I hope this helps. You can donate to all of these campaigns here: https://secure.actblue.com/directory/all/all/fed-senate. 1. Jon Ossof (Georgia)- Georgia is the big prize on the map this year…

A New Year and A New Look

Two years. That’s a very long time. In internet years its like two decades. In twitter years its a couple of lifetimes. A great many things have happened to the world in those two years. Most of it bad. But I’ve got a feeling that 2018 is the year we turn it all around. And to do my part I’m bringing back The Eclectic Eccentric. And I’m not just bringing it back, I’m giving it a facelift. Maybe it was time, maybe I’m excited about Jodi Whittaker becoming the thirteenth version of the Doctor, maybe I got bored while visiting…

Star Wars Machete Order- Live Tweet

Hey Everybody!!! In anticipation of Watching Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens this week I thought I would catch up by watching the Saga the way its supposed to be watched Machete Order style. What is the Star Wars Machete order? Well first you watch Episodes 4 and 5 followed by 2 and 3 then ending with 6. This way you cut out The Dreadful Menace and see Darth Vader’s fall to the dark side via flashback. Is it better. Well to answer that your going to have to follow along on twitter @theeccentricGR as I live tweet my…

A General Update

Hello everyone and welcome back to The Eclectic Eccentric. Or perhaps I should say welcome back me after my semi-intended month long hiatus. I say semi-intended because while I had decided to step away and not post during the month of November, the impetus behind that was to build up a queue of posts that would sit in a folder just waiting to be unveiled in order to give you, my faithful reader, a more stable and regular diet of new and informative diatribes. Unfortunately, my plans where undone by a confluence of circumstances both beneficial and detrimental to my…

Why I won’t be watching the NFL this year

I love the game of football. I’ve played it and I’ve coached it. I’ve spent hours agonizing over fantasy lineups and breaking down the pros and cons of using a zone defense over man coverage. I grew up watching Montana to Rice and saw first hand the good professional sports can do when Drew Brees and Sean Payton gave hope back to my adopted home when it needed it desperately. Maybe most importantly my dad played football too and talking to each other about the game we love is one of the ways we’ve been able to bond over the…

My First Novel

Tonight when the clock strikes midnight and July 30th becomes July 31st my first novel will be released for the world to see. And I am absolutely terrified. Not because I don’t believe in the book. I do. I’m incredibly proud of it. I’m terrified because it’s permanent. And permanence is not something I’ve ever done well. When I was a kid we moved around a lot. High school was the longest I was ever enrolled in one school. As an adult I’ve continued the trend. Never staying in the same place or occupation for more than two or three…

Reflections

Late last night I ended up in three simultaneous text message exchanges with friends who were struggling with both their literal and figurative places in this world. This convergence was a rather rare occurrence for me. While I’m always available to my friends I’m not much of a texter so when three separate 4am conversations occur on the same night I tend to sit up and take notice. Which is why today I’m going to forego my typical type of post and instead reflect a bit about life and our relationship to the world around us. After all knowledge without…

The Chronological Marvel Cinematic Universe Marathon- Recap

*Warning Spoilers for the entire Marvel Universe Ahead* Last week I watched the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe in chronological order, live tweeting the experience. My gigantic supercut began with Odin’s father putting the beatdown on some Dark Elves and ended fifty-three hours later with my favorite brain damaged scientist quitting S.H.I.E.L.D, grabbing a cab, and enjoying a Prosciutto and Mozzarella Sandwich with just a hint of Pesto Aioli. In between I got a whole lot of Hail Hydras and Norse gods and more than a few cameos from the great Stan Lee. Below I’ve included my tweets so you can see…

The Chronological Marvel Cinematic Universe in One Siting.-Live Tweet.

Here at the Eclectic Eccentric I’m about big ideas. And doing things just to say I’ve done them. So when I came across a chronological super cut of  the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe I thought to myself “How cool would that be to watch in one sitting?” So that’s what I’m going to do and I’m going to live tweet it as I go. Why? Because I can. Because I’m a masochist. Because I’m trying to sell a novel and I need to show potential agents that I’m active on social media. Because I’m Batman. The truth is why I’m…

Renewal

January 1st is upon us again. A day of rest and rejuvenation. A day of plans and expectations. Where New Year’s Eve is a day of reflection, New Year’s is a day of anticipation. It is a chance to shed the hindrances and complications of the previous year and embrace a new calendar and a fresh start. It is a day for us to gather our strength and our energy to face the challenges we know are to come. It is a day of rebirth and renewal For me the most powerful lesson of New Year’s Day is that it…
